WHO WE ARE: The Alliance Française of Greater Phoenix is the local chapter of the international Fédération des Alliances Françaises. We are an all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization.
Like all AF chapters, the Greater Phoenix chapter seeks to develop an appreciation of French culture, encourage the study of the French language, and promote friendship among Americans and French-speaking peoples. This makes us part of a long tradition: the Alliance Française has offered language instruction and cultural opportunities worldwide since its founding in Paris in 1883.
Our chapter’s diverse cultural and educational offerings enable us to attract and maintain a substantial membership. And because greater Phoenix is quite large, we have an active group of Franco-American families who can elp Francophone newcomers feel at home.
WHERE WE ARE: Phoenix is in the state of Arizona. Located in the American southwest, Arizona shares a border with Mexico and with the states of California, Utah and New Mexico. Phoenix and its suburbs constitute a thriving metropolitan area playing host to many high-tech corporations, financial institutions, cultural organizations, and professional sports teams. The office of the Greater Phoenix chapter is in Scottsdale, a large Phoenix suburb.
