LA NUIT DES IDÉES 2022 - THE NIGHT OF IDEAS 2022

Night of Ideas – May 9 – Europe Day: Where are we going? Southern California – Arizona - Colorado

The Night of Ideas is a cultural event proposed each year since 2016 by the French Institute in Paris and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  The theme of the 2022 edition is " Where are we going? ".  On the occasion of this cultural event in France and abroad, in universities, associations, embassies and Alliances françaises, along with museums, theaters and libraries, offer festive and participatory meetings and debates, with conferences and forums, round tables and workshops, artistic creations, screenings or concerts.

Phoenix Conference "Between dreams and realities...where are we going?"

The Alliance Française of Greater Phoenix, in partnership with International School of Arizona and Arizona State University, is organizing a literary meeting with three young French-speaking authors: Joseph Kochmann (Franco-American author and screenwriter), Cécile Cognet (writer and French teacher), and Billy Pierre (Haitian writer who has just published his first novel: "A l'autre bout d'un rêve").

Through the exploration of the work of these three writers, immersed between dreams and realities, we will try to sketch an answer to the theme of the Night of ideas...where are we going?

Mark Cruse, literature professor at Arizona State University, moderates the conversation.

Some of the paintings of the artist Teresa Derbez-Brown (Franco-Mexican and American) will be exhibited on this occasion (see below to learn more).

Date: Monday, May 9

Time: 6-8 pm

Location: International School of Arizona, 9522 E San Salvador Dr, Scottsdale
