As the Lumiere Duo, Celinda Anne Levno and Ethel Harris have been bringing the joy of
20th century French music to audiences for nearly 20 years. Playing “salon” concerts in small chamber venues, art galleries, and private homes, they have performed music from Debussy and Taffanel (the father of the French school of flute playing) to Poulenc and Honegger. Often featuring gems by lesser-known composers of the Paris conservatoire, they have also included more modern works written or arranged just for them. Their graceful, emotionally-appealing playing delights all who hear them.

Puisque plusieurs d’entre nous serons absents pendant les mois d’été, il n’y aura pas de rencontre en juin, juillet et août. Pour les mois d’été, le livre choisi sera Le Désert de l’Amour par François Mauriac. Après celle de Mai, la prochaine rencontre aura lieu en Septembre.
As several of us will be away for the summer, there will not be any meeting in June, July and August. For the summer months, the book will be: Le Désert de l’Amour by François Mauriac. The next book club meeting after May will be in September.

Bastille Day is coming….
Alliance Française will be partnering with MIM (Musical Instrument Museum) for Bastille Day, July 14, 2012. It will be an entire day of celebration!!
We’re looking to support our local French community for this event, and we’re looking for you. We’re looking for singers, musical instrument performers, thespians, dancers, and artists of all kinds.
